💬 The Woodlands Kindergarten Achievement Summary: To happen in term 4. 

The Woodlands Kindergarten Achievement Day is an event designed to celebrate the accomplishments of kindergarten students and their families. It typically includes acknowledgments of the traditional custodians of the land, welcoming families, showcasing children's talents, distributing graduation certificates and gifts, and fostering a social atmosphere.

The event is usually held in a picnic-style at the Campus or a fenced of local park/grass area, or as as 'informal presentation way' in a local community hall setting, with providing finger foods. It's a memorable occasion for young children transitioning from kindergarten to a Primary school setting with having the opportunity for families to connect with the Campus Leadership and teachers and  educators within that Campus and be able able to enjoy a relaxed evening together.

📤 Sending communication about event:

Campus will be required to inform families of the event and send out communications, and Invitations will be sent through Eventbrite.

  • Include the event in the monthly newsletter before the event occurs.
  • Write a post on Xplor and playground to ensure they are aware of the event.

📌⏰🌅 Date, Time, Location, and Event Summary Details

Date and Time:

  • Date: December (The exact date will be determined based on a 30-day weather forecast)
  • Time: 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM (Actual timing is flexible)

Event Style:

  • Picnic Style: Finger food provided by the campus (Budget: $300 from Woolworths, see food list below).
  • Find a local hall, cost through partnership or minimal cost.

Location:

  • Outdoor space at your Woodlands Campus, weather permitting (Please Monitor The 30-Day Weather Forecast: http://www.bom.gov.au/places/vic/melbourne/forecast/).
  • In case of rain, move the event indoors.
  • Look at a local community hall that you can use, a partnership form.

Podium, Decoration, Stage & Seating, room hire: Decoration budget is $400 in total.

    • You can set up a designated area in front of the seating with carpets and mats.
    • Set up a "Stage" and Seating area for children and families: Provide children's chairs for seating, as well as appropriate chairs for adults/families. 
    • Balloon drop arch.
    • Use children’s artwork to create decoration.

    • Children’s learning Gallery:
      Showcase children’s learning experiences and projects that have occurred throughout the year, ‘a learning journey wall’. For example, have on display the excursions, learning projects that have supported children’s interests throughout the year, the reader programs, what you have done for school readiness, have a display area for children's learning portfolios.
      The teachers/educators provide a short written description next to each learning experience to explain what learning is happening within these activities and how it links to the approved framework.
    • Equipment:
      • Microphone and speakers for hosting and music.
      • Projector for sharing key information.

  • 4-Year-Old Kindergarten Students and their Families.

⏰ Event Flow: Kindergarten Achievement Day

A) Acknowledgment of Country

  • Commence the event with a respectful acknowledgment of the traditional custodians of the land. “I would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land on which we are all meeting today, the Wurundjeri, Woi-Wurrung people (change land if Wurundjeri land is not the land you are on) of the Kulin nation. I would also like to pay my respects to the Elders past and present and any people who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in the room today. At Woodlands we commit to learning the truth about the traditional land we are on and to respectfully teach our upcoming generations Australia’s history”. 

B) Welcome and Gratitude

  • Extend a warm welcome to all families and express heartfelt gratitude for their presence.
  • Provide a brief introduction to the event's purpose and essence.

C) Mingle and Enjoy

  • Allow families to mingle and savor the picnic-style dining experience with campus-provided finger foods.
  • Encourage a casual and social atmosphere.

D) Kindergarten Performance and Presentation

  • Showcase the talents and creativity of the kindergarten children.
  • Children may perform together, sing, or present in various creative forms.
  • Ensure that the presentations align with the event's appropriateness and spirit.

E) Certificate and Gift Distribution

  • Graduating children will receive their graduation certificates.
  • Distribute Woodlands small gifts to the graduating children.

F) Relaxed Socialising with Music

  • Foster a relaxed and enjoyable environment for families to connect and socialise.
  • Enhance the overall atmosphere with background music.
  • Families can continue to interact and unwind at their own pace.

  • Conclude the event by expressing gratitude to all attendees for making the evening special.

    - Set up a Grazing Table for the event with the following:
    - Mini pizza
    - Finger Sandwiches (assorted varieties)
    - Mini Quiches (vegetable and cheese, might need baking, optional)
    - Fruit Platter (strawberry, watermelon, rock melon)
    - Vegetable Platter with Dip.
