Woodlands - French Language Program

Woodlands - French Language Program

According to the Department of Education and Training, learning a language other than English is important for children.

Education experts have found that there are many benefits of learning an additional language at a young age. This include:

  • Increased reading and writing skills
  • Cognitive flexibility and brain development
  • Improved and strengthened problem-solving skills

Nancy our Woodlands French teacher embed the French language through exploration, problem-solving, creativity and constructing ideas. Children will learn through an intentional teaching approach, promoting understanding through actions, engaging through play, art and craft, music, songs, stories…. to increase their vocabulary along the way.

Talking French to the children into everyday learning and activities, give children a wide range of opportunities to use the language themselves.

  • Traditions and celebrations

My name is Nancy and I am a French Teacher at Woodlands. I will give children through play the choice and opportunities to learn a French language and also a French culture. I believe learning is happening all the time, in a physical, social, emotional and cognitive way. My goal in my program is for the children to learn in a fun, safe, respectful, and positive environment but also to guide and support the children into the next stage of their development with confidence and excitement.

Learning a new language in Early Childhood education has several benefits including Boost problem solving, improving memory, concentration and ability to multitask. I will plan my program through activities and topics on the children's interest. An adult is like a child, we continue to learn with confidence and excitement.

"Our French Teacher is employed by Woodlands specifically for Woodlands."
