What is it?

A Quality Improvement Plan includes essential information about how your organisation will design, implement, manage, and assess quality and a Quality Improvement Plan must be reviewed and/or submitted to the regulatory authority on request, this can be through assessment and ratings, and spot checks.

A QIP is required to be developed within three months of the service’s approval, kept on site for inspection and include an assessment of the service’s quality against the NQS and National Regulations.

What is included in a QIP?

A Quality Improvement plan includes an assessment by the provider of the quality of the practices of the service against the National Quality Standard and the National Regulations; and identifies any areas that the provider considers may require improvement; and contains a statement of philosophy of the service.

QIP’S are completed so that services can self-assess, reflect and build on their performance as a whole in order to provide children with quality education and care, and to plan for future improvement that align with the NQS.

Your QIP should demonstrate your ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and how you will continue to explore opportunities to improve quality – this is especially important for services previously rated Meeting or Exceeding NQS.

Who is responsible of being a part of a Campus QIP?

The whole Campus should be involved in the process. It is, yes, the Educational Leaders role to drive it and ensure it is being embedded throughout all learning rooms in the Campus, however, the Campus nominated supervisor has a responsibility to support and implement elements that will support the Campus QIP from an operational point of view.

Why is it important?

It demonstrates your ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and how you will continue to explore opportunities to improve quality. It highlights your priorities, improvements, strengths and it showcases the learning journey.
