School readiness program at Woodlands for families

The School readiness skills that will be included into the kinder programs will be supporting:

  • Independent toileting.
  • Opening/closing and caring for their lunch boxes.
  • Have attention and concentration for a period of time.
  • Physical skills (e.g. having the endurance to sit upright for an entire school day).
  • Social and Emotional regulation.
  • Language skills and play and social skills.
  • School readiness can be actively facilitated with forward planning to ensure that children regularly participate in activities that develops the appropriate skills required to help optimal learning when they start school, as well as ensuring families are aware of this important transition within the Kinder rooms.

There will be a VIT registered Teacher who leads the Kinder room's.

Term 3 and 4 there will be an active School readiness program within the room that is planned for, implemented and reflected on through out term 3 and 4. 

Implementation: The implementation of the program and children building on these skills will be based on the child's interest and it will support the way each child prefers to learn based on their abilities and their needs. 

Term 4: Children will be required to bring a packed lunchbox from home, if your child forgets to bring one, then the is still food offered here at the Campus. 

Implementation: Communication will go out to families by the Kinder teacher regarding the lunchbox requirements.
